Running shoes

Monday, July 2, 2012

Jack came with me the other day to get a new pair of running shoes.

I needed new running shoes because I've actually been running.  (Victory.)

I have struggled with finding making time to exercise for a while.  Being a working mom is hard, yes.  But there are plenty of working moms who work out, and I'd like I need to be one.  I've read that if you schedule your exercise time like a meeting, you won't cancel it or skip it.  Because it's a meeting.

So, I have been running on my lunch break.  It's a meeting that I have scheduled with myself.  As luck would have it, we've been having totally awesome 100+ degree temperatures.  This makes my plan pretty nuts.  But, it's working, so I'm not asking questions.

Anyway, shoes.  I brought Jack along to make sure I picked the right pair.  His research was diligent.

He decided the pink socks were good, but the blue shoes were not.  (I agreed.)

He took a strong liking to the pink shoes.

Once he had tried them on and examined them from every angle, it was a go.

They are the Brooks PureCadence.  Jack tested, Momma approved.

Here's to, you know, *meetings.*

Heather

  3. You are my hero. I have yet to keep any of my exercise meetings. Someday, though.

And I love the shoes! Jack is a very good shoe model. Ike was trying to put on and walk in his dad's shoes yesterday and he was very frustrated that his feet came out of them!

    1. Yes, the boys don't understand why the cool grown-up shoes don't fit them, do they? :)

  4. What a sweet shopping buddy you have there! Good for you for making time to get your workouts in. I have a pair of pink Puma running shoes that I really love (great silent auction purchase), but, I have had my eye on Brooks. Would love to know how you like them after a few runs!

  5. I so remember those days of being a working mom & trying to fit everything into a day! Kudos to you...I did the same lunch schedule and found it worked, gave me a better outlook & focus and helped me be a better overall mom (the "me" time was a great stress reliever!). Although its hard...the results are so worth it!!

Jack looks adorable... Love the shoes ;)

    1. Thanks, my dear! The lunchtime workout requires more discipline than I usually have -- but I agree that it's awesome.
