Why this sudden switch from the parade of cute baby pictures? Because the temperature in Austin finally dropped below 90 degrees. In fact (wait for it) ... it was below 80 degrees this morning. In a word, divine. In a word, fall.
Fall catapults me back to my Life Before Texas -- which is still many more years than I've lived in Texas, for the record. Let me explain. (No! There is too much.) Let me sum up:
1. I adore fall. I grew up in Maryland, which has four lovely and distinct seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Fall has always been my favorite. It means back to school, apples, Halloween, and the honking of Canadian Geese over the Chesapeake Bay as they migrate south for the winter.

2. I went to college in Maine, which has 4 seasons: Fall, Winter, Mud, and Warm. Fall makes me miss Maine, in particular. For me, there was really nothing better than reading poetry in this setting:

3. I love coffee. And let me be frank, I am a big Starbucks fan. Fall + Starbucks = Pumpkin Spice Latte!
You guessed it... |
4. Jack is almost 7 months old. Which means that he is sitting up, on the verge of crawling, and breaking all time/space barriers for utter cuteness.

Life is good. Hope yours is, as well.

Honking geese? That actually sounds quite fabulous! And is it wrong that I don't love the Pumpkin Spice quite as much as I was hoping? But peppermint mocha? It's on. For now? Vanilla. I'll report back on the toffee mocha.
ReplyDeleteI know, fall is pretty awesome. I was sooo relieved when there were Canada Geese along the river in Albuquerque. Whew.
ReplyDeleteShrug on the pumpkin spice lattes.
Here in NM fall means roasting chile, roosting crows and hot air balloons whooshing overhead!
