Whole Foods

One of my favorite places in Austin is Whole Foods.  For Austinites, you know which one I mean:  the Mothership, 6th and Lamar.

Don't get me wrong.  I don't think there is such a thing as a *bad* Whole Foods.  But this one is particularly awesome.  It is the corporate flagship at the corporate headquarters, and yet doesn't feel corporate.  It just feels awesome.

Why on earth am I blogging about Whole Foods, when they have no clue about it and are in no way compensating me?

Because, as I looked back at the photos I have taken recently on my phone, I realized that, in the past 4-6 weeks, which have been so hectic, stressful, and full of upheaval (good stuff, but there is no law saying that good stuff cannot be stressful), Whole Foods has come through for me, big time.

Example 1:  Coffee.

I had overlooked the coffee bar, foolishly assuming that it was just like Starbucks.  Look at the list of flavors.  And then look at the list of milks.  So, so awesome.

Example #2:  Hydration.

I am constantly trying to trick myself into drinking enough water in a day.  I like sparkling water.  I like zero calorie flavored sparkling water.  I love coconuts.  Enter, La Croix coconut sparkling water.  Fact:  I cannot find this anywhere else in Austin.

Example #3:  Healthy and Delicious

I was out running errands the other weekend.   Rather than stop and get an unhealthy something, I stopped at Whole Foods to bask in the glory that is their salad bar and get a healthy something, instead.  For the record, that is shredded daikon radish and big hunks of tofu.  Yum.

Example #4:  Joy

Woah, Heather.  Easy on the Whole Foods Kool-Aid if you think they sell joy there.

Nope, they don't.  But as I partook of my healthy salad the other day, I happily listened to a jazz quartet.  I love jazz, and it's rare to get live jazz while eating a salad, isn't it?  I was less moved by it than these adorable folks, though, who got right up to cut the proverbial rug.  It made my heart happy.

Hope you are feeling happy and jazzy and hydrated today.

Talk soon,
Heather

  1. I am similarly grateful to my local Target, the only place I can find La Croix water in ANY flavor!!
