Sawyer is walking.  Huzzah!

When he feels like it, that is.

Jack is in an after-school running club called the Stallion Stampede.  The kids' miles are tallied annually and also linked with their membership to Marathon Kids, an AMAZING local charity that just received funding from Nike and is going BIG TIME!

He's pretty fast.

As for me, I am on the mend.  Roughly two weeks ago, I underwent emergency surgery to repair a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, which happened despite the fact that my tubes were tied.  That's both rare and dangerous.  The good news is that I'm on the road to recovery.

Hope you step toward a goal today.

early Christmas, part two

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

I was bragging recently that I grew up in a place with four distinct seasons.

In Texas, you see, that's at least noteworthy, if not something to brag about.

Last weekend, during our early Christmas, our little family took a walk.  It was awesome.  It was warm.

From time to time, I miss things.  Like, oh, wearing wool sweaters.  The smell in the air that happens right before it snows.  Cashmere scarves.  Making snow angels.  (And/or watching the fog roll in over the Golden Gate Bridge.  Because if you're watching fog in San Francisco, there are no snow angels.  It's all a series of trade-offs.)

But then, it's almost Christmas and I'm wearing flip flops.  And Jack is finding rock treasures on our walk and having so much fun.

And then I don't mind at all.  Trade off, shmade off.

Hope you don't mind stuff today.

Talk soon,
Heather

Possum

Monday, May 16, 2011

This weekend, Jack was On The Move.  He can now officially walk.  He realized at some point last week that walking enabled him to move quickly, grab things that were previously out of his reach, and carry a sippy cup while moving from place to place.  In short, he realized that walking is for the win.  Our home may never be the same.

He also displayed a penchant for playing possum.  While I was cooking yesterday afternoon (homemade cauliflower soup, even; healthy and delicious!), Jack "pretended" to be napping on the kitchen floor.

Standard Napping Position:  On stomach; thumb in mouth.

When he realized I was watching him, he filled me in on the joke.

I'm not really napping, Mom!  Gotcha!
I hope your week is filled with "surprises" as cute as this one.  And no real possums.

Vroom Vroom, Okay?

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Jack's increasing mobility amazes me.  I swear, it was just "yesterday" that he was rolling over for the first time, struggling with tummy time, or doing the one-armed army crawl.

Now, he's pulling himself up on everything (including Lucy).  He is taking steps, with our encouragement and assistance.  Independent walking is just a blink away.

In addition to walking, Jack has also taken to the sidewalks.

Aunt Geri, he wears the vest All the Time!
Aunt Jess, thanks for the loaner car!
Jack says, get out there and enjoy the sunshine, okay?  Vroom vroom!

Hope this finds you well,
Heather
